The 411 on Paraffin
Despite the many benefits of having paraffin wax treatments, many people do not know much—if anything—about this natural treatment. As a firm believer that knowledge is power, I am here to spread the news about the wonders of paraffin, what it is, how it works, the complete 411!
According to a wonderful blog post I came across today on Head to Toe Beauty, paraffin wax is known to increase circulation, improve skin color, soothe and moisturize the skin, and open pores. Because of these benefits, it is a good treatment choice for those suffering from diseases such as fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Eczema, joint stiffness, dry skin, and Bursitis.
What is Paraffin?
So, you may be wondering—what is paraffin and what do they do with it? Well, according to Wikipedia.com, paraffin wax is a “white, odorless, tasteless, waxy solid, with a typical melting point between about 46 and 68 °C (115 and 154 °F).” For the treatment of diseases such as those listed above and for more innocent beauty purposes, paraffin is used in what most refer to as paraffin baths. During a paraffin bath, paraffin is melted down and the bothersome area of your body is dipped into the warm, melted paraffin. The paraffin is then allowed to dry and subsequently peeled off. This is usually followed by a massage or exercise of the area being treated. This treatment leaves the client with baby smooth skin and relaxed muscles.
Have you ever had a paraffin treatment? What did you think?
